‘An Old Realm in a New Monarchy: Habsburg Coronations in Early Modern Hungary’ by Dr Géza Pálffy (Institute of History at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences)
Senior Parlour, Gonville and Caius College, 5-6:30pm
With just a few days to go before Britain chooses a head of government, please join us for the Network’s last event of the year to hear about a rather different tradition of appointing a ruler. On Tuesday Géza Pálffy will be visiting us from Hungary to discuss the evolving ceremonies of coronation in the Realm of St Stephen under Habsburg rule, shedding light on the relationship between power and ritual in a composite monarchy. Thank you to all who have attended our events over the year and helped to make them a success, and we hope to see you one last time before the summer vacation.
